Nature Photography Workshop

Sunday, June 7 from 8:00-10:00am at Yost Park

Pre-registration required, limited to 20 participants

Seeing Slowly

Better photos come from better experiences. Join photographer Kevin Ebi for a two-hour, open-ended stroll through Yost Park in Edmonds. Based on his Five Minutes in Nature project, we’ll be going slow and using all our senses to get past quick glances to have deeper, more unique experiences in nature. A camera is not required — just a sense of curiosity. This will be a leisurely walk on dirt trails, although there are some small hills.

———

We want our festival to be accessible to all, so this workshop is pay-what-you-can. There is no mandatory registration fee, but donations are greatly appreciated if you’re able to help support the festival and Pilchuck Audubon’s conservation work throughout the year.

Registration opens May 1 at 12:00pm (noon)

Kevin Ebi took up nature photography as a young adult after a life-altering day appreciating expressive masterpieces at the Art Institute of Chicago. His love of nature, however, preceded that day by two decades. He sees nature as dynamic and strives to depict his subjects as part of a “living wilderness.” His work has been the subject of exhibits at the Roger Tory Peterson Institute in New York, the Butler Institute of American Art in Pennsylvania, the Smithsonian Natural History Museum in Washington, D.C., and in galleries in Seattle, Los Angeles, and Portland. Kevin’s photographs reside in the permanent collections of Washington State Tourism, The City of Seattle, Bank of Arizona, and Mount Rainier National Park, among others. Two of his images have been featured on U.S. Postal Service “Forever” stamps, including a commemorative issue honoring the National Park Service centennial. He lives in Lynnwood, Washington.
